At the British Motor Show it’s not just about the action, we also want to help you find out more about the industry and cars you drive now or might drive in the future.

We’ve teamed up with The IMI to deliver all you need to know about the industry, cars and the future of driving, in a way that everyone, even the kids can understand.

Here’s the lineup for The IMI Tech Hub;

  • 10:50 – Career Panel

    Hosted by Dave Reece from School of Thought. A panel of experts, employers, trainers and apprentices will chat about the breadth of opportunity in the automotive industry. From design to technicians and sales to marketing. Join the session to see how you could turn your passion into a career.

  • 11:30 – Car Maintenance for kids

    Aimed at helping kids understand the basics on how a car works. Haynes Motor Museum’s experts will get them involved in understanding what an MOT checks and explain basic safety checks that should be carried out, all in a fun and interactive session.

  • 12:00 – Ask the experts

    The AA are experts in all things automotive. In this session some of the most experienced automotive experts in the country will be on stage to answer your automotive related questions and give independent advice.

  • 12:40 – Switching to Electric – Everything you need to know

    Everything that the consumer needs to know about making the switch to an electric car. From vehicle charging to range anxiety and how to spec the correct battery and motor. This session is aimed at those who are yet to convert but realise that their next car should be electric.

  • 13:10. – IMI Perception Campaign Launch

    With the automotive sector facing a 20 year high in vacancies, the Institute of the Motor Industry is embarking on a game-changing campaign to debunk the outdated perceptions that are at the heart of the recruitment challenges. The new IMI campaign will highlight that career opportunities exist for individuals, whether at the start of their working life or looking for a change in direction.

  • 13:50 – Drivers Den – The latest car tech (Thurs – Sat)

    A “Dragons Den Style”session where 3 companies get to pitch their latest product and idea to the audience and our experts. Our experts will discuss the ideas before the audience get to vote on what they think is the best idea.

  • 14:40 – Is it the end of ICE? (Thurs – Sat)

    Has the Internal combustion engine had its day? Many think so. Is electric the fuel of the future, what will happen to all the classic petrol engined cars on the road and will they eventually stop selling diesel? We’ll be asking these questions and more in this session.

  • 15:10 – Motoring in 2050 (Thurs – Sat)

    A fun and interesting look at what motoring might look like in 2050. Will we all be moving about in autonomous cars or will they be flying? What fuel will we be using and what will technology look like?

  • 15:40 – Career Panel (Thurs – Sat)
