eBay helps The British Motor Show deliver the power of good

The British Motor Show has teamed up with eBay to help deliver its sustainable V8 project, which aims to explore if a large-capacity V8-engine Ford Mustang can clean up its act.
A natural partnership

The British Motor Show Sustainable V8 project sponsored by eBay will see the Mustang serviced, maintained, repaired and hopefully improved, using parts sourced via eBay, particularly quality-assured, Certified Recycled parts. These high-quality, genuine parts could save up to 70% vs buying the same part new, as well as being more sustainable and better for the planet. Last year, eBay UK shoppers buying used car parts and accessories saved more than 16,000 tonnes of CO2e and prevented 3,000,000kg of waste from ending up in landfills, simply by choosing not to buy a box-fresh part.
It’s an obvious partnership, as eBay is the go-to choice for car fans, restorers and car owners thanks to its depth and variety of inventory, ease of ordering and speedy delivery, all essential for the upkeep of the British Motor Show fleet and CEO’s daily driver.
Six months of sustainability
The British Motor Show team will be keeping a diary of all energy, fuel and parts used over the six months running up to the show and calculating the carbon footprint, which will be offset at the end of the year, using a carbon offsetting partner The team will also calculate the cost and carbon footprint against running a conventional EV.
The team will deliver regular updates before announcing the results on The eBay Live Stage at The British Motor Show in August, revealing how close they managed to get to the cost of running an EV, how much they saved on parts and how sustainable biofuel is compared to regular fuel.
The British Motor Show CEO, Andy Entwistle, said: “eBay is a natural partner for our sustainable V8 project as it’s the best place to go for the widest choice and variety, with speedy delivery, all of which are important when you’re running a car daily and trying to keep its environmental impact as sustainable as possible.”
Regular updates on the Sustainable V8 project will feature on The British Motor Show website throughout, and on the British Motor Show YouTube channel, with updates fronted by Sam Hard from Hard-Up Garage.
The British Motor Show 2023 takes place at Farnborough International Exhibition Centre from August 17-20, delivering a dynamic mix of live entertainment, interactive displays and driving experiences as well as the latest new cars and supercars, alongside classics, modified cars and even tanks!
