The team behind The British Motor Show and the National Automotive Industry Day underlined its commitment to supporting all areas of UK Automotive by holding its inaugural breakfast meeting within the atmospheric grounds of Bicester Heritage on Sunday, September 6.

Bringing together movers and shakers from all aspects of the car industry, from senior executives to high profile motoring media, the day was as much about networking as it was about enjoying the cars, which ranged from a £50 Volvo 850 to an Aston Martin Vantage, via all stops in between.
As well as a chance to talk motors and business, have a late Sunday breakfast and swap car buying stories, the attendees also took to the track to give their classics a workout – an opportunity that 2020 hasn’t offered for many of them so far.
“We had a far bigger turnout than expected and the eclectic mix of cars and characters at Bicester underlined what a fabulously enthusiastic industry UK Automotive is,” said Andy Entwistle, British Motor Show CEO. “While we all work tirelessly and professionally in all aspects of the car industry, a lot of us work in automotive because we adore it. We love cars and we love meeting fellow petrolheads, and it was so reassuring to see just how many true enthusiasts there are working in the industry today.
“The diverse selection of vehicles at the event each had one thing in common – they are owned by a true enthusiast who chose it out of a love of cars, be it a battered old Volvo or a beautifully restored MGC. That passion is the one thing that unites us all.”

“Most importantly, the success of the gathering has demonstrated the desire within the industry for the chance to get out and start meeting again and the support that the show already has”.
The event was born as a result of The British Motor Show promoter’s UK Automotive Industry Group Facebook page, a home for all involved in the industry to not only share professional information, but also to entertain each other, with recent discussions as diverse as car-related album covers to cars you go out of your way to avoid – and why the steering wheel of a Ford Fiesta looks like Roland Rat.

Setting up the group was another demonstration that The British Motor Show is an event intended to support the Automotive industry and the people within in. Many of those in attendance regaled stories of British Motor Show from the past and the return of the show is intended to rekindle the love for our industry in an entirely new format
The group has over 1,200 members and is open to anyone working in the UK automotive industry, from the shop floor to the top floor.
The breakfast meet was put together by Automotion Events, which will be holding The British Motor Show at Farnborough International on August 19-22, 2021. It is also the company behind Cars and Christmas, Retro Electric (a resource for EV-modified classic cars), the National Automotive Industry Day and CDX.
