Featured Club – Southcoast VW Transporters
It’s not just new cars at this year’s British Motor Show, we have some fantastic classic and cherished cars too, with 50 car clubs displaying the best their members have to offer. in the Classic Car Zone sponsored by The National Motor Museum
We’re looking at some of the clubs that will be with us and what they will have to offer, this week it’s The Southcoast VW Transporters Club.
Di Brown started Southcoast VW transporters 8 years ago for friends and family but it grew rapidly via word of mouth as lots of fundraising events and fun was had and is now at over 7,000 members!
The Club is open to all types of Transporters from Type 1 to Type 6, with the main aim of ‘escaping’ the hassles of every day life, work and worries and going on adventures at anytime with minimal preparation, as most of our campers are ready and equipped to take us on fun and relaxing weekends away, a bag of food and clothing is all we need to add as most other items stay in the campers!
You will see some stunning interiors in our members vans too ‘Pop-Tops for extra height and adding an extra double ‘bedroom’. Our members love their Campers and want them to look their best, some even adding artwork to their Bonnets.
We attend lots of VW shows, events and festivals or sometimes we head off ‘Wild Camping’ or on road trips (some planned and some unplanned!)
We have raised over £50,000 for various charities over the past 8 years, which is a big part of the club and something we all enjoy, whether we are gathering together in a parkland or on a beach to raise much needed funds.
The group was asked by National Geographic to bring several campers to Biggin Hill’s ‘Spitfire Museum’ for a featured episode of ‘Car SOS’, where we provided a ‘T25’ for an episode. We Love to display our campers and our members vans have been featured many times in VWBUS+ Magazine.
